Charles “Chuck” Lee
Blacksburg Rotary Club
Chuck Lee was president of our Rotary club during 1995-1996.
Chuck grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA with a degree in economics. He was transferred from New Jersey to our area in 1984. He said, “I never dreamed when I was transferred here that I would still be here 25 years later!”
He was working for Hercules, Incorporated, as Director of Human Resources when he joined our club. Skip Hurley, the Vice President and General Manager of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant encouraged Chuck to be involved in community service. Chuck retired in 2006.
Chuck is married to Tina. They have two grown daughters who live in Richmond. “They went through school here in Blacksburg and consider Blacksburg their hometown.”
About his service as president, he said, “When I was president we had about 78 members. The main funding effort, aside from the usual programs the club sponsors, was assisting on the funding of the Huckleberry Trail.”
He added, “I joined to help others. It meant a lot to me to be asked to be president. I was happy to contribute.”
